About

Dr. Qiusheng Wu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography & Sustainability at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He is also an Amazon Scholar. Dr. Wu’s research focuses on advancing open-source geospatial analytics through cloud computing and GeoAI. He is the creator and maintainer of several widely used open-source Python packages, including geemap, leafmap, segment-geospatial, and geoai. Dr. Wu’s work bridges remote sensing, Earth observation, and artificial intelligence to make large-scale geospatial analytics more accessible, reproducible, and intelligent. He is also the founder of the Open Geospatial Solutions GitHub organization, which hosts over 100 open-source projects.

Dr. Wu also serves as the Director of Graduate Studies in his department and as the Director of TennesseeView, a Tennessee Remote Sensing Consortium. He was a Google Developer Expert (GDE) for Earth Engine and has received many awards, including the Google Open Source Peer Bonus Award, the International Geospatial Innovation Award, and the CPGIS Innovation Award. His YouTube channel has over 900 video tutorials with 60K+ subscribers, 155K+ watch hours, and 2.9M+ views.
